A ram is described as having attacked a woman on Down Patrick Head, Ballycastle yesterday evening.
The woman from Claremorris was with her sister and two visiting students at about twenty to 6 yesterday evening when the incident occurred.
At the time the popular north Mayo tourist destination was busy with visitors all along the hill.
There were about 20 lambs and a ram on the public access area at the time.
The ram knocked the woman over and stood on her thigh, and with every attempt she made to stand up – the animal rammed her.
Eventually with the assistance of one of the students distracting the ram the woman managed to get up.
She was described as shocked and bruised and she told Midwest News today that she was very shaken up after the incident and is anxious to warn others to be careful in this popular tourist location.
The incident has been reported to Ballina gardai.
