An investigation is under way following vandalism over the weekend at the Glinsk GAA pitch in Co Galway.

It appears a vehicle drove across the grass on Saturday night, leaving tyre tracks and cutting up part of the playing surface.

It is thought the pitch surface will have to be rolled and reseeded to restore it to its previous state.

CCTV footage from the adjacent community centre is being examined in an effort to identify those responsible.

While there are no competitive fixtures scheduled at the Glinsk grounds this week, regular training sessions will be affected by the damage.

The club is appealing for anyone with information on the incident to contact Gardai.
