Warm tributes were paid at his funeral Mass in Carnacon this afternoon to Jimmy Corbett, one of the country’s most successful ladies club football managers.

Mr Corbett, who passed away at the weekend, co-managed the Carnacon senior team to 6 All-Irelands, 16 Connacht titles and 20 county tiles, along with numerous underage titles.

Club players past and present - including Cora Staunton who flew in from the United States - formed a guard of honour as his remains were brought from St. Mary’s Church for burial in Burriscarra Cemetery.

Local parish priest Fr. Michael Farragher was the chief celebrant of the funeral Mass.

Tributes were paid to Jimmy at the funeral Mass as a man who had changed the face of ladies Gaelic football.

Mourners heard he was a kind, caring person, a father figure to the many girls who played on the various teams which he managed over the years.

He's survived by his wife Sadie, daughters, Michelle, Lorraine, Yvonne and Marie, sons Kevin, Damian. Michael, Declan and Sean and extended family.
