Gardai in Ballina are investigating after a fire to a disused building in the town yesterday evening.
Four units of Mayo Fire Service attended the scene of the blaze shortly after 4pm yesterday after reports of smoke coming from an old Warehouse on Connolly Street.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
The roof of the old warehouse contained asbestos so a clean-up will necessitate the closure of the street.
Gardai have confirmed to Midwest News this morning that the building is continuing to smoulder and Connolly Street will remain closed until the scene is cleared and deemed safe.
