The search for a fisherman missing on Lough Mask was called off earlier today, due to weather conditions.

Searches have been ongoing for 78-year old angler Séan Maloney from Ballinrobe, who's been missing since Friday, but the searches have been hampered by poor weather.

Mr Maloney's boat was found on Saturday.

Claremorris Gardai confirmed that  the search of the lake and shoreline resumed this morning, but was stood down at 12 noon, due to deteriorating weather conditions.

The Garda sub-aqua unit was on site today, assisted by the Coast Guard, the Grainne Uaile sub-aqua unit, Corrib / Mask rescue, Gardai, and local fishermen and volunteers.

Gardai say they will consider the weather conditions tomorrow before deciding when to resume the search.
