Over €27 million has been announced for the improvement and maintenance of regional and local roads in Co Mayo in 2019.

The funding includes over €14 million for road restoration and improvement, €2.5 million for restoration maintenance, a discretionary grant of over €5 million, over €1.1 million for the Community Involvement Scheme, €1.3 million for drainage works, €610,000 for safety improvement works, €337,000 for specific improvement works and €595,000 for bridge rehabilitation.

This includes work on Moyview Bridge in Foxford, Kilmannin Bridge in Ballyhaunis and bridges in Crossmolina, Newport, Killala, Bohola and Castlebar.

The Minister for Community & Rural Affairs Michael Ring says the funding is further proof that the Government is committed to improving connectivity in rural areas.
