A family from Foxford have today collected a €1 million prize from the National Lottery headquarters, after winning the Daily Million top prize last week.

The lucky family, from the village of Foxford, didn't know they had scooped the top prize until the mother checked the draw results on RTE Aertel.

The winning ticket was sold at Gannon's Post office and store in Foxford on the day of the draw - this day last week.

The winning mother said they were unaware there was a €1 million ticket sold in Foxford that day, until she turned on the television in the evening and flicked to the Aertel channel to check the draw numbers.

She said she checked the ticket 10 or 20 times before allowing herself believe she had the winning ticket.

The family, who wish to remain anonymous, decided to take some time out before collecting their prize money, and have promised not to get carried away with their newfound wealth.
