Funds totalling over €20,000 have been allocated for 16 Mens' Sheds in Co Mayo.
Last Summer, Minister Michael Ring announced half a million euro nationally under the Men's Sheds programme, to enable individual groups to upgrade their facilities.
Following the allocation to each local authority areas last July, an application process was overseen by the Mayo Local Community Development Committee.
Minister Ring has now confirmed that, following that process, funding has been allocated to 310 Mens Sheds across the country.
This includes a sum of €1,367 for each of 16 Mens Sheds in Co Mayo - in Ballina, Ballinrobe, Ballyhaunis, Castlebar, Charlestown, Claremorris, Crossmolina, Erris, Glen Nephin, Kiltimagh, Louisburgh, Mulranny, Newport, Killala, Swinford and Westport.
The funding is aimed at improving their sheds or purchasing equipment and tools.
Minister Ring says the emergence of Men's Sheds in recent years has been a very positive development for communities across Ireland.
