Two men with Sligo addresses have gone on trial at the Special Criminal Court, accused of IRA membership.
37-year old Julian Flohr of Rusheed Ard, Caltragh and 29-year old Damhan McFadden of Kilmacowen, Ballysadare - who were found in a car by Gardai with a mortar round inside a backpack - are charged with membership of an unlawful organisation styling itself the Irish Republican Army or Óglaigh na hEireann on ugust 14th, 2016.
Mr Flohr made no reply when the charge was put to him.
Mr Justice Tony Hunt said the court would take his silence as a "not guilty" plea.
Mr McFadden pleaded not guilty.
The court heard Gardai found the mortar round when they searched a car in the Dromahair area of Co Leitrim.
The trial continues on Monday at the Special Criminal Court.
