Crossmolina is on high alert ahead of the arrival of Storm Callum.
While water levels in the River Deel have subsided in the last day or two, after reaching very high levels earlier this week, there are fears it will rise significantly again tonight.
Preventative measures have been put in place in Crossmolina and the installation of non-return valves has prevented substantial flooding so far this year.
However, local residents are again in fear of flooding in their homes and businesses, as they cannot get insurance for their premises.
The town suffered from extensive flooding in December 2015, when many homes and businesses were destroyed by water.
Locals have been telling Midwest News today about their fears of further flooding, and what measures they believe need to be taken in the long-term to prevent further incidents.
