Gardai in Claremorris are appealing for public assistance after a wreath and flowers laid along the N5 outside Bohola in memory of the late Joe Deacy were vandalised and pictures of the young man were removed from a location about a mile the Swinford side of Bohola.

Gardai believe the incident occurred sometime after 10pm on Wednesday night last and early yesterday morning (Thursday).

The flowers and wreaths had been laid at the weekend and photos of Joe erected following a memorial service to mark the one year anniversary of the death of the 21 year old.

Despite an intensive garda invesitigation which is ongoing, nobody has been charged in relation to Joe Deacy's death.

The young GAA player, from St Alban’s in Hertfordshire in England had strong Mayo connections and was found unconscious in the driveway of a house at Gortnasillagh, Swinford, in the early hours of August 12th, 2017.

He died days later in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.
