The purchase of a site for a new Garda Station in Sligo is expected to be finalised in the coming days.
It's the third new Garda station to be delivered along with Clonmel and Macroom.
The Justice Minister also announced progress on the refurbishment of Athlone Garda Station earlier.
Minister Charlie Flanaghan announced the progress on a number of Garda stations across the country earlier today
The works are part of The Garda Building and Refurbishment Programme 2016 - 2021.
It includes over € 60 million of Exchequer funding as well as a major Public Private Partnership (PPP) project.
The PPP project is set to deliver new stations in Macroom, Clonmel and Sligo.
The site in Macroom has already been acquired by the OPW, while the acquisition of sites in Sligo and Clonmel is nearing finalisation.
The OPW has also selected a preferred main contractor to carry out works at Athlone Garda station and the adjoining Social Protection building.
Public funding is unprecedented for An Garda Siochana and has already seen three new Divisional and Regional headquarters provided for in Wexford, Dublin and Galway.
