Gardai in Co Galway have renewed their appeal for information in relation to a fatal road collision in Ballinasloe last Thursday, which claimed the life of two pedestrians.
Deirdre Gilmartin and Maureen Dooley – who were both in their 50’s - were fatally injured while out walking on Station Road in the town on Thursday evening shortly before 6pm.
The two friends were struck by a car which had collided with a second car.
Deirdre Gilmartin was laid to rest at Creagh Cemetery on Monday while Maureen Dooley was laid to rest in the same cemetery yesterday.
Gardai in Ballinasloe have today renewed their appeal for witnesses and are anxious to speak to anyone who may have travelled on the R358 at Station Road, Ballinsloe immediately prior to the collision, or to any person who may have witnessed the collision.
The scene of the crash is close to Ballinasloe Train Station and would have been busy at the time.
