A trailblazer in his own right, he was a pillar of support to countless individuals within the Ballyglass community and beyond. His talents were many, and his genuine interest in both the young and the old made him a cherished presence.

A proud family man whose love of Ballyglass was tangible.
He set up the Community council and opened the community centre in the old school. He led and assisted in the refurbishment, often taking the painting brushes in hand. No job was too big for him.

His local knowledge and interest in the history of the locality was unmatched.

Joe's time as principal of Mountpleasant NS has left an indelible mark on our community. His love of sport, local history and the people around him touched the hearts and minds of so many generations. Joe's knowledge of Ballyglass was endless. With Joe's vision and determination, the doors of the 'new school' opened in 1986. This legacy ensured that education would remain at the heart of the Ballyglass community.
