January 5th 2025 - peacefully following a brief illness, in the exceptional care of the staff of the stroke unit Mayo University Hospital, surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his parents Philip & Margaret (née Gillespie), brothers Richard & Vincent, sisters Jean, Anne & Alice.
Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sisters Mary, Peggy, Nora, Betty, & Angela, brothers Frank & Seamus, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, grand- nephews & nieces, cousins, the extended Foy & Gillespie families, neighbours and many friends.

John will rest in repose at Sweeney's Funeral Home, Louisburgh on Wednesday (Jan. 8th) from 4.30pm, concluding with Vigil Prayers at 6.30pm, followed by removal, walking to St. Patrick's Church, Louisburgh.
Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 12 noon, followed by interment in Kilgeever Cemetery.
Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu if desired to, CROí c/o Sweeney Funeral Directors, Louisburgh.

He loved his trips to Connemara where he made numerous friends.
He had a special love for fishing and enjoyed nothing better than a day spent tipping around Black Rock and Maoim Mor in the Currach.
