Avril Whitehead,
Pullamarla, Bofeenaun, Ballina, Co. Mayo - peacefully at Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar.
Avril, beloved wife of Ken, mother to Gerard and Mark, grandmother to Alexander, Thomas and Annabel.
Avril was born in Hazelwood Castle, Yorkshire in 1944 to Josephine and George Teale, Avril's mother's maiden name being Leonard, who was from Ballina.
Avril spent her earlier years living in Ballina with her grandparents on Pearse St, going to school in Ballina and then onto the Ursuline Convent in Sligo.
Avril was a reserved person who came alive in the company of her family, friends and neighbours.
Avril always regarded the West of Ireland as her true home, especially Ballina and the area around the town, having fond memories of the Ballina people she grew up with.
Her grandparents were from the townlands of Coolturk and Carrowgarve to the West of Crossmolina and she spent many times visiting relatives in those areas and in Keenagh.
Avrils's warmth and loyalty will be sadly missed.
Deeply mourned by her loving husband, sons, daughters-in-law Gill & Jo, grandchildren, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.
Rest In Peace.
Reposing at Leonard's Funeral Home, Lahardane (F26CV60) on Sunday evening from 6pm to 7pm.
Cremation on Monday at 12 noon in Shannon Crematorium

I got to know Ken and Avril from their daily visits to Tesco where I work.
It was always a pleasure to serve and chat to them.
Avril was a pure lady with a lovely smile and lovely manner.
I will miss her coming into Tesco but I'm sure Ken will continue to come in.
May Avrils loving soul Rest In Peace and again My Deepest Sympathy to all the family on this sad occasion.
Thinking of you all.
