Mary Heraty (née Duffy),
Cloonkeen, Castlebar and formerly of Drummin, Westport - unexpectedly, at her residence on 9th January 2024.
Predeceased by her beloved husband John (Johnny) and her parents Peter and Annie Duffy (Drummin) and her sister-in-law Mary Duffy (Swinford).
Mary will be sadly missed by her brothers Joe (Swinford), Peter (Dublin), Michael Joe (Drummin), Gerry (Drummin), her sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Mary started her working life as a young girl in Travenol Laboratories (now Baxter Healthcare), Castlebar where she made many lifelong friends. She later worked in Davitt House, Bests Castlebar and she finished her working career in Dunnes Stores, Castlebar. Mary was a people person and she loved nothing more than meeting and chatting with friends old and new. She had a pleasant disposition which endeared her to the many people she came in contact with during her working day. Mary had a great interest in fashion and style and always had a smile for everyone.
Mary married the love of her life John Heraty and they set up home in Cloonkeen, Castlebar where they enjoyed their life until John’ s health deteriorated and eventually his illness required him to be hospitalised. Mary visited her beloved John twice or three times most days, while he was in hospital but sadly John passed away in 2013. A heartbroken Mary continued to work but her own health deteriorated and she retired from the job she loved in recent years.
Mary will repose in St. Aiden’s Room, St Patrick’s Church, Islandeady, Castlebar on Thursday evening 11th January 2024 from 6 o’clock with removal to the adjoining church at 7.30pm.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday 12th at 12 noon in St. Patrick’s Church, Islandeady.
Mary will be laid to rest with her beloved husband John in Islandeady cemetery.
