Gerard (Gerry) Donagher,

Bunowna, Easkey, Co. Sligo and formerly of Kilmactranny, Co. Sligo – peacefully on the 7^th October 2023 surrounded by his loving family in the exceptional care of the doctors, nurses and staff at Sligo University Hospital.

Former Principal of Coláiste Iascaigh.

Gerry, predeceased by his beloved wife Bridie Donagher (née Kilcullen), his parents John and Nellie, his siblings Nancy, Thomas J (Tommy) and Nuala Heslin.

Loving father of John, Aileen and Kenny and adored grandfather of Mary, Bríd and Eithne McGowan and Clíodhna and Róisín Donagher.

He will be sadly missed by his sons, daughter, grandchildren, son-in-law David McGowan, daughter-in-law Maria Hyland, sister-in-law Kay Treacy, brothers-in-law Edward and Anthony Kilcullen, nieces, nephews, relatives and his wide circle of friends.

Reposing at McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina on Monday evening from 6:30 with removal at 8:00 to arrive at St. James’ Church, Easkey, Co. Sligo for 8:45.

Requiem Mass will take place on Tuesday at 12:00 noon followed by burial after in Roslea Cemetery, Easkey, Co. Sligo.

So sad to hear the news of the passing of the lovely, quiet and gentle Gerry, Mr. Donagher, Sir. What an absolute fantastic teacher he was and how many great memories we have of him in Easkey Tec. He never got cross, and eventhough he had a great way of teaching, many classes were passed where he'd get side tracked easily and end up telling us stories instead of doing maths!! Everyone in school loved him.
