Fr. Tommy Murphy (Columban Fathers),

Late of Turlough Road, Castlebar, Co. Mayo; Korea, Taiwan, China and St. Columban's, Dalgan Park, Navan, Co. Meath (January 6^th, 2023) - peacefully in the loving care of his Columban family in Hong Kong.

Predeceased by his parents Pat and Kitty, sister Mary Monica and sister-in-law Mary.

Very deeply regretted by his brothers Padraig (Swords) and Michael (Castlebar), sister-in-law Anna, nieces, nephews, extended family, Columban family and friends.

May Fr. Tommy Rest in Peace

Funeral Mass and Cremation will take place in Hong Kong.

Memorial Mass will take place in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar on Saturday, January 14th at 12 noon.

Columban Mass and Burial will take place at a later date.

In my mind Fr. Tommy is a person always be there to give encouragement and help to our weak church. What a pity that Covid pandemic blocked him to come to mainland China. I have known Fr. Tommy and his community about 20 years. He introduced his community and the church he served to me when I visited HK. AS a receiver of his kindness and helps, being trapped by our own miserable covid-control policy during these three years, I have not communicated with him and got his news on time, and feel shocked and sad to know Fr. There was never a more proud Columban Father than Fr Tommy, when he marched his schoolmate from St Gerald’s and Taoiseach from Castlebar, across the Ponte Vecchio in Bobbio, Italy in June 2013, to visit the tomb of St Columbanus and to prepare for the 1,400 th anniversary of his death in 2015. The entire town knew the head of the Columban Fathers was there.!
Met Fr Tom in Taiwan, in Singapore and at home. Truly dedicated to his vocation.
