Society of African Missions, Blackrock Road, Cork and late of Cummer, Tuam, Co. Galway - on 27th September 2022 - peacefully at Cork University Hospital, Wilton, Cork.
Predeceased by his parents Joe and Nora (née Burns), his brother Johnny, his brother-in-law Paddy Gilmore and his nephew Joseph.
Deeply regretted by his sisters Peggy (Gilmore) and Una (Mitchell), his brothers Fr. Seamus SMA, Tom and Eamonn, sisters-in-law Margaret, Marie and Gemma, and his brother-in-law Michael Mitchell, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, other relatives, friends, the people of the Diocese of Sunyani, Ghana; Archdiocese of Pretoria, South Africa and the Archdiocese of Tuam, Ireland, and his confreres in the Society of African Missions.
Reposing at the African Missions House, Blackrock Road, Cork on Thursday 29th September from 4 o’clock until 5.30.
Remains will arrive at St. Joseph’s SMA Church, Wilton, Cork from 11.40am on Friday, 30th September for Funeral Mass at 12 noon followed by burial in the community cemetery.
Those attending the funeral are respectfully asked to adhere to all social distancing and sanitising guidelines, wear a face covering and avoid shaking hands.

I remember him coming on a Carmellite Pilgrimage a few years ago and we had such a lovely time with him and very good fun and crack God Rest him.
Farewell Fr Michael. You were the salt of the earth and never sought the limelight or credit. I knew you as a man of courage and passion for your cause from young days as an energetic sports captain in Ballinafad college to your 10 years walking life's journey with people of Breaffy. Thank you. May you enjoy the rewards of your life and labours.
