Roscommon gardai

  • Drugs worth over 100-thousand euro have been seized following the search of a house in County Roscommon.

    A woman in her 30s has been arrested by gardai investigating the discovery.

    40 cannabis plants, cannabis herb and a small amount of cocaine were found after a house was searched in the Lanesborough area yesterday.

    The woman arrested is being detained at Roscommon Garda Station.

  • Roscommon Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a break-in at the home of an elderly couple in Ballaghadereen.

    An elderly resident in the Kilcolman Estate noticed noises while watching TV last Saturday at 8:40pm.

    The intruder has been described as a male in his late teens to early twenties, about 6ft tall, thin built and with a local accent.

    He was wearing dark clothing and footwear, including a black woolly hat.

    The bottom half of his face was covered up with a scarf.

    One of the elderly residents was watching television when he heard noises in the house.

    When he went to investigate he met a young man in the hallway.

    When he asked the intruder what he was doing in his house he replied asking what he was doing there.

    When the man went to phone Gardai the intruder went into a rear room and climbed out the window.

    At the same time a second intruder was heard climbing out an adjoining rear window and leaving the house.

    Anyone who spotted the male and his accomplice or noticed suspicious activity in the area between 8 and 9pm can confidentially ring the Gardai on 1800 666 111.

  • Gardai in Roscommon are investigating a burglary in the early hours of this morning in which a number of vehicles were taken.

    A farming equipment premises near Oran was broken into - three Quad ATV vehicles and three Quad UTV vehicles were taken, along with a white Mercedes Sprinter van and trailer.

    The van has a 171 D registration.

    Gardai believed the van and trailer were used to transport some of the stolen Quads.

    They're appealing to motorists who were travelling between Ballymoe and Roscommon between 4and 5am this morning and may have noticed two vans, one pulling a trailer, to come forward.

    Also, following a possible sighting in the Kiltoom area, Gardai are asking motorists who passed through Kiltoom and onwards to Athlone at around 5.15 am this morning and who may have seen, or may have dash-cam footage of these vehicles, to contact them in Roscommon at 090-66 38300 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.





  • A woman has been airlifted to University Hospital Galway after a single vehicle collision near Roscommon town.

    The car she was travelling in hit a wall shortly after 3pm at Rockfield, Oran, on the Roscommon-Ballymoe Road.

    Her condition is currently unknown.

    The road was closed for a period of time, but has since reopened.
