  • The 2021 Post-Primary Schools GAA All-Ireland series has been cancelled.

The GAA’s post primary committee has decided that no All-Ireland series will be held this year due to the uncertainty surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic..

There is still a possibility that secondary school teams will get to compete in their respective competitions at provincial level.

However, that will be wholly dependent on public health advice and will be decided at a later date.

The committee will monitor the public health situation in the coming weeks and months with a review around March likely to determine whether provincial secondary school competitions can take place.

Chairman of the All Ireland Post Primary Committee, Seamus Woods said: “We look forward to brighter days when Gaelic Games in schools can restart, and resume their unique contribution to the personal development of students, their physical and emotional wellbeing, their life skills, their sense of contentment with school life, their allegiance to school, and, consequently, the atmosphere and equanimity within each school.

"The contribution made by Gaelic Games at schools level reaches far above and beyond the games themselves, and that is why their place in the GAA firmament must be cherished and protected”.

Yesterday, the Higher Education Committee announced that all third-level competitions, including the Sigerson and Fitzgibbon cups.
