The National Masters Track & Field Championships took place on Saturday August 18 at Tullamore. A packed timetable of events ran from 11am to 7pm.
Conditions were dry and at times very warm (23°C) and turned quite humid towards evening with the approaching storm.
Competition was keen as usual at all levels. Well done to Mayo AC's five representatives who competed in four age categories and who brought home a total of 14 medals – six track and eight field.
Heptathlete Patrick Moran led the tally with five medals in the M60 category, including a discus pb and a great win in the 400m race in 70.18.
Pauline Moran has had a great week. Following her National Half Marathon W60 gold and W50 team gold last Sunday, she retained her 800 and 1500 metres titles in smooth style.
Ann Murray collected a bronze in 1500. Martin Peyton had a productive day in the field events winning four bronze medals.
Congratulations to all the Mayo AC medal winners.
