  • A search got underway in the Belmullet area last night for a man who was later found safe.

    Ballyglass Coast Guard was tasked just after midnight, after Gardai requested their assistance in the search for a person reported missing.

    Two search teams carried out an initial search of the area where the person was last seen, and the Sligo-based Rescue 118 helicopter was also involved.

    Plans were underway to expand the search area at first light this morning, when the person was located safe and well.

  • The father of Trevor Deely says he doesn't let himself get drawn into speculation surrounding his son's disappearance.

    Its 18 years today since the 22 year old went missing after a Christmas party in Ballsbridge in Dublin.

    There has been no trace of his whereabouts since, despite renewed appeals, a large reward for information and a major new search earlier this year.

    Trevor’s brother Mark is based in Castlebar.

  • Gardai in Galway are seeking assistance from the public in tracing a 63-year old man who missing from his home in Rahoon.

    Kevin McGrath was last seen on Sunday week last 27th October in Eyre Square, Galway.

    He's described as 5' 10" in height of slim build, with blue eyes, grey hair and a beard.

  • Gardai are appealing for assistance in tracing a 29-year old man, missing from his home in Strokestown since last Wednesday.

    Tomas Martinkus was last seen at about 5am on Wed morning last, 19th December.

    Tomas is described as 5' 10" with brown hair and blue eyes.

    It's not known what he was wearing when last seen.

    His family and friends are concerned for his safety, and anyone with information is asked to contact Gardai in Strokestown at 071 - 9633002 or any Garda station.

     

     

  • Gardai have renewed their appeal for information on the whereabouts of a Co Roscommon woman who's been missing from her home in Cork for over a week.

    47-year old Majnoon Yehudie, previously known as Catríona Chapman who's a native of Boyle, has been missing from Douglas in Cork since Tuesday 22nd OCtober.

    She's described as about 5' 8" in height of thin build, pale complexion with blue eyes and when last seen was wearing a purple jacket and black leggings.

    Her family are concerned for her welfare, and Gardai are asking anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact Gardai in Togher in Cork at 021- 494 7121 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

     

     

     

  • Gardai in Ballina are appealing for the public’s assistance in tracing a woman who is missing from the area since Thursday.

    22-year-old Margaret Lawrence was last seen on Thursday morning in the Ballina area. She was reported missing that night.

    Gardai say that when last seen she was wearing a grey tracksuit top and black boots.  Margaret is described as 5 foot 3 inches in height, of thin build and has shoulder length black hair.

    The Gardai are concerned for her welfare and are asking for anyone who has seen her or knows her whereabouts to contact them on 096-20560, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station. They are also appealing directly to Margaret if she hears this appeal to contact Ballina Gardai.

  • Gardaí in Ballina are seeking assistance from the public in locating the whereabouts of Patricia O’Donnell, 61 years, who was last seen on Tuesday, 7th January 2020 in the Crossmolina area, Co. Mayo.

     

    Patricia is described as being 5’ 2” in height, of slim build, with long blonde/fair hair.

     

    When last seen, she was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.

     

    It is believed she left her home, travelling in a grey Toyota Yaris car.

  • Gardaí in Galway are appealing to the public for assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 26-year-old Roland Mitchell from Fr Griffin Road, Galway.

    Roland was last seen at 7pm on Saturday last February 2nd and was reported missing by his family who are concerned for his wellbeing.

    He is described as 5ft 11” in height, of slight build with brown/sandy hair. When last seen he was wearing a black denim jacket, blue jeans and black shoes.

  • Gardaí in Killala are appealing to the public for assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 87-year-old John Lockwood from Lissadrone, Ballycastle, Co Mayo.
    John was last seen in the early hours of this morning at his home. Despite ongoing searches throughout the day he has yet to be located and local Gardaí are appealing for information.
    John is described as approximately 5ft 9” in height, of slim build, blue eyes, short white hair and moustache. When last seen he was wearing a green jumper, light brown corduroy trousers and black shoes.

  • Gardaí in Salthill are seeking assistance from the public in locating Andreea Mereuta, 26 years of age, who is missing from her home in Monalee Manor, Knocknacarra, Galway since last Thursday.

    Andreea was last seen on Ballalley Lane, Galway city centre at approximately 2.30a.m. after a social gathering with friends. 

    Andreea is a Romanian national and is described as being 163 cm in height, slim build with long brown hair and brown eyes.  When last seen she was wearing a red jacket and black leggings.

    Gardaí and family are very concerned for Andreea and are asking if anyone has seen Andreea or has any information on her whereabouts to please contact Salthill Garda Station on 091 - 514720, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

  • Gardaí in Ballina are appealing to the public for assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 13-year-old Jake Bagnell from Carrowmore Lacken.

    Jake was last seen at Lacken Cross, Killala at approximately 9:30am on Friday morning.

    He is described as approximately 5ft 7in in height, with black hair, and of thin build with blue eyes. When last seen he was wearing green tracksuit bottoms, dark navy or black hooded jacket, white and black Adidas runners.

    Gardai in Belmullet have renewed their appeal for information on a teenager missing for over three months.

    16-year old Paddy McDonagh has been missing from Belderrig since early April.

    He was last seen in Belderrig at about 7pm on the evening of Tuesday 3rd April.

    Paddy is described as being of slight build, and 5' 11" in height with blue eyes and short brown hair.

  • Gardai are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of a 16-year-old girl missing from Castlebar since yesterday afternoon.

    Mary McDonagh is described as being 5’ 2’’ tall, of slight build and with long brown hair with blond streaks. When last seen she was wearing a black raincoat with a furry hood, blue jeans, a red top and black and white runners.

    Mary may have travelled to Dublin.

  • Gardai are appealing for the public's assistance in tracing the whereabouts of a 29 year old man missing from his home in Strokestown, Co. Roscommon.

    Tomas Martinkus was last seen on December 19th at approximately 5am.

    He is described as 5" 10" with brown hair and blue eyes.

    It is not known what Tomas was last seen wearing.

    His family and friends are concerned for his safety.

  • Gardai are appealing for information on a man in his late 80’s missing from the Ballycastle Carrowmore/Lacken area.

     

    The man was reported missing since the early hours of this morning from his residence at Lissadrone, Ballycastle.

     

    The man is described as 5 foot 9 in height, white hair, and has a distinctive white moustache.

     

    He is possibly wearing a dark green jumper, very light brown cords and speaks with a Yorkshire accent.

     

    Gardai say the man would present as being in a state of confusion.

  • Searches are underway for a young Leitrim man who was reported missing in Galway earlier this week.

    Cathal Whelan was last seen in Clifden on Tuesday night and his family have issued appeals on social media yesterday evening in an attempt to get in contact with him.

    Cathal was not seen in the area since, the Gardaí were informed of the situation on Thursday and inquiries are trying to establish his whereabouts.

    Searches were organised in the Clifden area and searches continue this morning again in the hope of finding any clues as to the whereabouts of Cathal Whelan.

    Anyone with any information is asked to contact any members of the Whelan family, or their local Garda station.

  • Searches are continuing today for a missing person in Enniscrone.

    Gardai and the Irish Coast Guard have been conducting searches since reports of a person entering the water at Enniscrone Beach on Tuesday evening.

    Gardai say land searches are continuing today and enquiries are ongoing.

  • Today marks the 19th anniversary of the disappearance of Mayo's Sandra Collins, and her family are again appealing to anyone with information to come forward so they can bring her home for burial.

    Originally from Fotish, Crossmolina, Sandra - who was 29 at the time - disappeared from Killala where she was caring for her aunt.

    She left her home in Killala on the evening of 4th December 2000 to buy groceries, and was seen later that night in a chip shop, but never seen since.

    Her jacket was found on the pier in Killala five days later, and 19 years on, her brother Patrick Collins is again appealing to anyone with information to come forward in confidence.

    He says it's impossible for the family to move on, without knowing what happened to Sandra 19 years ago.

    Meanwhile, the 7th annual National Missing Persons Day takes place in Dublin today.

    The event commemorates those who have gone missing, and recognises the lasting trauma for their families and friends, as well as drawing attention to unsolved missing person cases.

    Minister of State David Staunton will attend the event at Kings Inns this morning.

     

  • A woman who was missing in Achill since yesterday morning has been found safe and well.

    24-year-old Susanna O’Malley was last seen in the Achill Sound area at around 6am yesterday morning.

    Gardai confirmed to Midwest News this morning that she has been found safe and well and thanked the public for their assistance.

  • A young woman reported missing from the Castlebar area has been located safe and well.

    Gardai yesterday issued an appeal for information on the whereabouts of 29-year old Rachel Dervin, originally from Ballina, who was missing from the Castlebar area since Saturday.

    Gardai say Rachel has been found safe and well, and they're thanking the public for their assistance.
