  • Cillian O’Connor breaks the all-time championship scorer in Mayo’s defeat at the hands of Kerry yesterday.

The Ballintubber sharp-shooter overtook Colm Cooper when he kicked over a free in the second half of their ten-point hammering by the Kingdom.

O’Connor set a new scoring record of 23-285 and looks set to raise the record to greater heights this year in Mayo’s Super 8’s games against Meath and Donegal respectively.

Aged 27, O’Connor still has plenty of football left in his career to leave create a record that will take serious beating for future high-scoring hotshots.
