  •  The Connacht Ladies will take on the Leinster ladies in the opening game of the inter-provincial championship.

Donnybrook's Energia Park is to host its first ever Leinster double-bill next month.

The men's side will face Coventry in a pre-season friendly from 3pm on August 17th as a curtain raiser.

  • In a first for the competition the series will take place in its entirety across eight days at University of Limerick, with the squad travelling to their base tomorrow morning ahead of the series opener against Leinster U18s on Saturday (k/o 11am).

Next up is a meeting with Munster U18s on Wednesday 22nd August (k/o 3pm), followed by the concluding game against Ulster U18s on Sunday 26th August (k/o 1pm).

Connacht U18 Head Coach Colm Tucker says:

“We are looking forward to the upcoming challenge of the inter-pro series in UL. It will be the first time this format has been employed with 3 games over 8 days and it presents a very exciting and tough challenge with all teams boarding and training in UL for the duration. The squad have worked hard this summer and have prepared well. We are looking forward to getting to Limerick and getting the games underway. We would hope to see as many Connacht supporters there as possible to support the team.”

  • Connacht Rugby are pleased to announce that the Connacht U18 Boys & Girls teams will be the guests of honour at this Saturday's Guinness PRO14 tie between Connacht and Scarlets at The Sportsground (k/o 5.15pm).

The Connacht U18 Girls team made history last weekend when they sealed the interprovincial title, beating Leinster 21-19 to complete a clean sweep of victories in the competition. It's the first time in the province's history an U18 Girls team has won an interprovincial series.

The victory came on the back of a similar feat by the Connacht U18 Boys, who also won the interprovincial title at the U18s Festival at University of Limerick in late August.

Their achievements are especially significant as it is the first time ever that Connacht have won both male and female interprovincial titles in the same season.

As a result both sets of squads and management will be attending the game and will parade their trophies at half-time, following which the head coaches and captains will be interviewed on the field.
