Land of the Giants Duathlon

  • The town of Claremorris and surrounding areas are busy this morning with over 400 runners and cyclist to take part in the annual Land of the Giants Duathlon.

    Sign in for all participants is underway at the Mc William Park Hotel Kilcolman Rd from 8am until 10am this morning.

    Runners will gather at the Square in Claremorris from 10.10am and the event will start at 10.30am. The Square, James St and Ballinrobe Roads will be affected for approx 1.5hrs.

    The cyclists will use the Mayfields Rd to Colleran cross roads taking a left to Carramore and the Country club where they will rejoin the Ballinrobe/ Claremorris rd. (R332) Participants will Finish at the Square from  approx 11.30-12.30pm.

    Organisers regret any inconvenience caused.

  • The Land of the Giants Duathlon takes place in Claremorris this Sunday 29th December.

    Over 400 people are expected to take part in the event, which starts at Market Square at 10.30am with a 5.5 km run to McMahon Park and around the Land of the Giants Greenway.

    Stage 2 is an 18k cycle, and the final stage is a short 1.5 km sprint around Clare Lake.

    Entry is online at, with sign on and number collection from the McWilliam Park Hotel on Saturday evening between 6 and 8pm and on Sunday morning from 7.45 - 9.45 am.

    Prize-giving takes place after the event at the McWilliam Park Hotel.

    This is the first round of the Bridge Signs Ireland West Duathlon series, followed by Hollymount on 19th January, Ballinrobe on 9th February and Enniscrone on Feb 23rd.
