  • Hugh Armstrong from Knockmore finished third today in the International Half Marathon in Charleville in Cork.

  • Ballina AC athlete Hugh Armstrong has finished 8th overall in the Dublin City Marathon.

    The Knockmore man was the third fastest Irish man home in a time of 2:14:21.

    Moroccan runner Othmane El-Goumri's set a new course record -- finishing the Dublin Marathon in two hours, eight minutes and four seconds.

    He crossed the finish line at Merrion Square just before 11am, just seconds ahead of Clonliffe Harriers man Stephen Scullion.

    Ethiopia's Motu Medefa completed the course in two hours, 27 minutes and one second to win the women's race.

    Aoife Cooke was the fastest Irishwoman, arriving in eighth place.

  • Knockmore's Hugh Armstrong is aiming to represent Ireland at the next years Tokyo Olympics.

    He has also run the fastest marathon ever run by a Mayo man.

    Today he joined Michael D McAndrew on Sunday Sport.
