  • A Roscommon-Galway TD is calling for a clampdown on profiteering during the current coronavirus pandemic.

    Independent deputy Denis Naughten says the cost of hand sanitizers in particular have risen due to increased demand.

    He says he came across one wholesaler selling it for 42 euro a litre - more than double the price before the crisis, and told Midwest News that this can't be allowed to continue....

  • As fears grow over the spread of Coronavirus, a Mayo-based company has launched a new hand sanitiser, in response to increasing demand.

    Cosmetic Creations, based in Mayo and Cork, has formulated and tested a new hand sanitiser called Airmedica, following requests from the public and private sectors, and will producing 80,000 units per week.

    The company has, to date, been a manufacturer of skincare and cosmetic products but is expanding into the pharmaceutical market.

    Late last year, the company announced 30 additional jobs at its headquarters in Claremorris.

    Owner and CEO of Cosmetic Creations Aiden Corcoran said they intend to produce 2.5 million units of the Airmedica sanitiser, and orders have already been confirmed for 40% of the potential units.
