Garda Richard Fallon

  • The son of a Roscommon-born Garda, who was shot by paramilitaries during a bank raid in Dublin in 1970, says new evidence means the inquest should be reopened.

    Richard FallonĀ  - a native of Kilrooskey in Co Roscommon -was shot twice and died at the scene of a bank robbery on Arran Quay in Dublin on 3rd April 1970, and was posthumously awarded the Scott Medal for bravery in the line of duty.

    His son Finian Fallon says a retired detective sergeant has alleged there may have been State collusion with the paramilitary gang before the robbery.

    Finian has written to the coroner's office, GSOC and the Garda Commissioner to have the inquest reopened.....
