Enniscrone Beach

  • The Annual New Year’s Day Swim in Enniscrone Co Sligo, organised by the Enniscrone Events Committee,  takes place tomorrow at 2pm at the Pier. 

    This year’s beneficiaries are Spinal Injuries Ireland, North West Hospice and  Meals on Wheels. 

    Participants must register just prior to taking part in the office beside the pier. 

    Everyone is welcome to take part or to spectate and join in the fun. 

  • A lifeguard is on duty today at Enniscrone Beach.

    Midwest News understands that following an outcry yesterday, a lifeguard has been put in place today.

    Sligo County Council issued a statement yesterday to say there would not be a lifeguard on duty due to a lack of available staff.

    However Mayo Fine Gael Senator Michelle Mulherin told Midwest News today that she was down at Enniscrone Beach this morning and there is a lifeguard on duty.


  • Searches are continuing today for a missing person in Enniscrone.

    Gardai and the Irish Coast Guard have been conducting searches since reports of a person entering the water at Enniscrone Beach on Tuesday evening.

    Gardai say land searches are continuing today and enquiries are ongoing.

  • Sligo County Council has warned beachgoers that there will be no lifeguards on duty at Enniscrone Beach this weekend.

    The local authority says it is due to a lack of available staff.

    The council has warned people to take care in the water and not to take any unnecessary risks.

    The statement says that normal service will resume next week.
