Comortas Peile

  • The 2020 Comortas peil na Gaeltachta has been cancelled as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.

This year's event was to be hosted by Naomh Anna Leitir Mor GAA Club in Galway on the June Bank Holiday weekend.

None of the qualifying games had been played in either Mayo, Galway or Donegal.

There is no date  given by the GAA as to when teams are allowed back training or playing so the decision has been taken to postpone the National Competition for 2020.

Next year's finals will be hosted by Naomh Anna Leitir Mor club and they are looking forward to welcoming teams from all over the country to the area.

  • Burrishoole Ladies and Crossmolina Deel Rovers competed in the Lidl Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé 2018 tournament,  which took place over the weekend  in the Dingle Peninsula in Kerry.

In a round robin six-team intermediate ladies competition, Burrishoole beat West Kerry side Corca Dhuibhne and St. Francis of Leitrim to make the final against Blessington of Wicklow.

The Mayo ladies, who are previous winners of the Comortas, ran out winners on a scoreline of Burrishoole 5-15 to Blessington 2-12.

Crossmolina Deel Rovers had mixed fortunes in the senior men’s competition where they defeated Kerry’s Ardfert 1-10 to 0-12 to reach a semi-final clash with Dingle but although they matched each other score for score for much of the game, two goals in the second half killed off the Mayo men’s challenge, and they eventually lost on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-10..
