Colm Horkan Memorial Run

  • The Irish Army 62nd Infantry Group, Charlestown Sarsfields GAA and East Mayo Athletics Club will hold the inaugural Colm Horkan Memorial Run this Sunday, February 14.

The late Detective Garda Colm Horkan was tragically killed in the line of duty in the early hours of June 18 last year.

To honour his memory, the 62nd Infantry Group currently based in  Syria together with Charlestown Sarsfields GAA, East Mayo Athletics Club will host a virtual event this weekend.

People from all over the country and world will remember Colm by participating in a virtual run, walk, treadmill or cycle challenge varying in distance from a 5k, 10k to a half marathon.

Funds raised will go towards the Colm Horkan Memorial Pitch and community walkways project at Charlestown GAA.

  • Entry is now open for the first Colm Horkan Memorial Run which takes place on 14th February, in memory of the late Detective Garda Colm Horkan from Charlestown.
