  • A Claremorris man has become only the third Mayo man to ever win the Junior Softball singles title.

    Patrick Murphy was crowned the first Mayo champion of the competition since 1971.

    He defeated Limerick’s Shane Murphy in straight sets 21-18, 21-11 to land the title.

  • A Claremorris handballer won a gold medal last night at the World Handball Championships in the US. 

    Patrick Murphy from Facefield, a member of Claremorris Handball Club, teamed up with James Prentiss for the 19 & Under Doubles grade and won the gold medal at the event in Minnesota. 

     

  • Patrick Murphy of Claremorris Handball Club secured a gold in the US National handball competition underway since St Stephen’s Day.The competition was held in Portland in the US.

    Patrick won the U19 Big ball handball US title.

    He also brought home a silver medal where he partnered Cork’s David Welsh and together they just lost out in a tie breaker in the final on an 11-7 scoreline.

    Patrick reached the semi final stage of the U19 small ball final also.

  • Two Mayo men triumphed in the Connacht Final of the Junior A Doubles.

    Mayo’s Patrick Murphy & Laurence Murphy defeated Galway’s Seamus Conneeley & Conor Noone after three sets on a score line of (21-12, 13-21, 21-16)

    Laurence and Patrick progress to the All Ireland series where they will be away to Ulster in the Semi Final.
