  • Over 45 stands, including third-level and Post-Leaving Certificate colleges, apprenticeship providers, employers and career service providers, have been confirmed for next Saturday’s (January 12th) Mayo Careers Fair 2019, to take place  in GMIT, Castlebar.

    The event gets underway at 11am and is free of charge to senior cycle and pre-senior cycle students, their families, and lifelong learners.

    Guidance counselor and educational expert Brian Mooney, acclaimed sports performance psychologist acclaimed sports performance psychologist and coach Gerry Hussey, and broadcaster Angelina Nugent are among the speakers at the Fair

    It is being organised in an innovative joint venture between the South Mayo GAA Board; the Mayo Local Community Development Committee Education & Training Working Group;and the Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education & Training Board.

    Liam Horan is a member of the organizing committee and he told Midwest News today that the event provides an ideal opportunity for students and their families to learn more about career opportunities -whether that's a third level college place, an apprenticeship or direct employment.

  • Over 100 companies will be offering careers advice and job opportunities at IT Sligo’s  Careers Fair next Wednesday the 17th of October.

    Abbott, AbbVie, Amazon and Ericsson are just some of the large multi-nationals in attendance. 

    The event, which will run in the main campus building, will cover a range of industry sectors including Engineering, Computing, Digital Technology, Accounting and Science.  They will also include local companies - both large and small- across many sectors.

    The Careers Fair is of particular interest to students and graduates, but is also open to the public.. 

    IT Sligo’s Careers Fair is on Wednesday 17th October, from 11am to 3pm.
