  • Westport Gardai are appealing for information following a burglary at the Church in Newport over the weekend.

    The oratory was broken into, and two candleabras were taken along with a sum of money.

    The incident occurred sometime between Friday evening and Sunday, and anyone with information is asked to contact Westport Garda Station at 098 - 50230.

     

     

  • Gardai are appealing for information following a burglary overnight at the Applegreen Filling Station and Centra store on the N17 near Kilkelly.

    The incident occurred sometime between 11.30 last night and 4am this morning.

    A quantity of cash was taken from an instore ATM, while a substantial amount of cigarettes was also taken, and significant damage was caused to the interior of the premises.

    Claremorris Gardai are appealing for anyone who was in the area between 11.30pm and 4am and may have noticed activity at the service station to contact them at 094 - 93 72080 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

    They're particularly looking for drivers who may have dash cam footage of the area to come forward.

     

  • Four men are due in court in Castlebar in Co.Mayo later.

    The four were arrested as part of Operation Thor, a Garda initiative tackling burglaries nationwide.

    The four men in their 20's were arrested alongside a teenage boy aged 15 at a property in Ballinrobe on Friday night.

    They have been charged in connection with a burglary at Claremorris also on Friday night.

    Gardai also found a number of items understood to be linked to recent burglary incidents and they seized a high-powered car and a van.

    They are appealing for information, especially anyone who may have seen a black hatchback type car or noticed any suspicious activity in the south Mayo area.

    The four are due to appear before a special sitting of Castlebar District Court later today.

  • A burglary took place at a petrol station in the Louisburg area overnight.

    Westport Gardai attended the scene at about 2.40am this morning and discovered extensive damage to the premises.

    A number of items were taken in the break-in.

    Gardai say no arrests have yet been made, and their investigation is ongoing.

     

     

     

  • Gardai are investigating an overnight burglary at a business premises in Glenamaddy.

    The incident occurred between 2 and 3am his morning, and Gardai in Tuam are appealing for information on the movements of a dark-coloured Volkswagon Golf which was seen in the vicinity.

    Anyone with information is asked to contact Tuam Garda Station at 093 - 70840 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

     

     

  • Gardaí are investigating a burglary incident that occurred at a Service Station on the N5 Westport Road area of Castlebar, in the early hours of this morning.

    The burglary happened some-time between 2:30am - 5:30am.

    It is believed that fibre optic cables located nearby, visible from the N5, were damaged prior to the burglary. An undisclosed amount of cash and other items were taken from the Service Station as a result of this incident.

    Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information and / or dash-cam footage, particularly anyone who may have seen persons tampering with a cable box on the N5, located outside Castlebar between Ballynaboll and Ballymacrath, to contact Gardaí in Castelbar on 094 903 8200 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

    Investigations are ongoing.

  • Two men and a boy have been arrested, while another person remains on the run, following an attempted burglary in Co. Leitrim.

    A Garda patrol car was rammed where the robbery was taking place at a supermarket and post office in Mohill early this morning.

    The suspects fled the scene in a second car but crashed a short distance away.

    A man in his thirties was found inside the car with serious injuries and taken to Sligo University Hospital for treatment.

    This morning, two men and a boy were arrested at Tamlaght Mor in Mohill in relation to the attempted burglary, while one person is still at large. 

  • Two people were arrested in relation to a burglary at a business premises in Westport on Tuesday night.

    Gardai have confirmed to Midwest News that a quantity of cash and some items were taken from the premises.

    A man and a woman, both in their 20's, were arrested and taken to Castlebar Garda Station.

    They have since been charged in relation to the burglary, and will appear before Castlebar District Court later this morning.
