The family of late country music legend Big Tom McBride are devastated by a weekend death in his extended family.
Rita Bogdanova, the partner of Dermot McBride, one of Big Tom's sons, died suddenly of health complications after giving birth to a baby girl.
The infant survived the birth and is doing well, according to family sources.
It's been a difficult 12 months for the Co. Monaghan based McBrides following the death of Big Tom in April at the age of 81.
He was prececeased by his wife, Rose, some months earlier.
Dermot and Rita have two other children.
The McBride family, who reside at Oram, Castleblayney, have appealed for privacy in the wake of the sudden death.
No funeral arrangements have yet been announced.
As a result of the sudden death, the launch of the book, 'Big Tom: The King of Irish Country' at Bridge Street Lounge, Castlebar, on Wednesday has been put back to a later date.
The book was written by journalist and broadcaster Tom Gilmore, and was due to have been launched by broadcaster Michael Commins.
