  • Ballyhaunis GAA are on the lookout for a new senior football manager.

    The club say they are seeking expressions of interest for the post.

  • Keith Higgins has announced his inter-county retirement aged 35. 

    The sixth Mayo player to retire since the beginning of 2021, Higgins tweeted yesterday evening saying "The time has come to step away. It's been an unbelievable journey and an absolute privilege. Thank you."

    The Ballyhaunis man made his first of 90 appearances against Dublin in the National League in 2005.

    Keith made 75 Championship appearances , an All Ireland U21 title in '06. He went on to win 8 senior Connacht titles and a National League in 2019. All Star Young Footballer of the year in '06 and 4 All Stars in '12,'13,'14 and '17.

    The dual star was also a Nicky Rackard winner, Railway Cup winner in hurling and football & Sigerson cup winner with IT Sligo.

    Ballyhaunis GAA Chairman Gerry Lyons has described Keith as a class act both on & off the field.

    He says his dedication to both club & county has been exemplary.

  • Funding of over €11,000 has been allocated for three community organisations in Co Mayo, to assist the integration of migrants into the local communities.

    The Minister for Rural & Community Development Michael Ring has announced grants of €4,950 for Ballyhaunis GAA Club, €3,500 for Ballyhaunis Family Resource Centre and €2,800 for Claremorris Community Radio.

    Minister Ring says the funding is provided under the Communities Integration Fund, which is designed to encouraged and assist migrant integration and social inclusion in communities.


  • We have a Saturday Evening Sport Special this weekend with the Mayo Senior and Intermediate Football finals taking centre stage at Elverys MacHale Park.

    Our coverage will begin from just before 5pm when Ballyhaunis and the Neale clash in the Intermediate decider. Michael D McAndrew will be joined by Michael Conroy for this exciting tussle.

    Then at 7pm it’s the senior final between reigning county champions Ballintubber and Ballaghaderreen.
