  • Ballina Rugby Club is reaching out to supporters at home and abroad asking them to get behind a gofundme page set up to continue the future development of the club on Creggs Road.

The club say they face their own challenges.

Teams haven’t been able to play the game they love, Ballina's clubhouse and facilities have been closed temporarily and finances have been hit hard.

Club chairman, Alan Rowe, is well aware of the challenges facing people at this time and says while the fundraiser is important, other matters are much more pressing.
“Staying safe and healthy – minding one another and getting through this pandemic is the priority. However, we are always thinking of the future here in the club and we’re asking anyone who would like to help us to please do so.

“There is a huge vibrancy in Ballina RFC. There’s a belief that nothing is impossible, but like everything in life, there are costs involved. We have really exciting plans for Heffernan Park and for the club as a whole, but our income stream has dried up and we’re asking our friends at home and abroad to come on board and help us on our journey. All contributions will make a difference.

  • Ballina Rugby Club has called for public co-operation as people of all ages continue to enter and use their club grounds despite the gates being closed.

This is completely without the club's permission and has reiterated that nobody is allowed in Heffernan Park at the moment.

Ballina RFC Chairman Alan Rowe says it's not acceptable when you see people crossing the fences and going in on the ground in these times.
