10 euro

  • Gardai in Ballina are advising businesses and the general public that there are poor quality counterfeit 10 euro notes in circulation in the area at present. The dud notes were tendered in business premises and in restaurants in Ballina over the weekend.

Gardai have described the counterfeit notes as being “poor in ink quality” and having what’s described as “a plasticky feel”.

In the busy run up to Christmas, gardai are advising businesses to check the tender offered and if they are suspicious, to please contact Ballina or any garda station. They say it’s somewhat unusual to have counterfeit notes in such a small denomination, and so are warning businesses to be on the alert.
