The executive of Mayo County Board is set to meet later this week to begin the process of finding Stephen Rochford's successor after Rochford stepped down on Monday evening.

Kevin McStay appears to be out of the race to manage his native county with Roscommon's P-R-O Hugh Lynn telling the Irish Daily Star that McStay will remain in charge of the Rossies for 2019.

James Horan and Jim McGuinness are reportedly the front runners for the Mayo job, although it is believe McGuinness will stay involved with soccer,  with Mayo U20 manager Mike Solan also on the list of potential candidates. He managed the Mayo U21’s to an All-Ireland title in 2016 and to the All-Ireland Final in the U20 competition earlier this summer.
