The GAA has confirmed this evening that Tipperary’s Fergal Horgan will take charge of the All-Ireland senior hurling final between Galway and Waterford.

It will be Horgan’s first time to referee a senior final, but he did officiate the 2014 All-Ireland minor hurling final and the All-Ireland intermediate hurling decider in 2015.

His most recent game in the hurling championship was Waterford’s All-Ireland quarter-final victory over Wexford in Pairc Ui Chaoimh last month.

Meanwhile, Sean Cleere of Kilkenny will referee the All-Ireland minor final between Galway and Cork.
