Excessive turnaround Times for Ambulances into Mayo University Hospital, according to latest figures
Lives are being put at risk due to ambulance turnaround times not being met according to Mayo Fianna Fail deputy Lisa Chambers.
Fianna Fail received information from the HSE about turnaround times at every hospital in the country that receives emergency ambulances.
The deputy says while the problem affects every county, the Mayo figures are particularly poor.
Less than 11 percent of ambulances at Mayo University Hospital actually meet the 20 minute turnaround time, set out nationally, and she describes the situation as “nothing short of a scandal”.
The average tome taken for ambulances at Mayo University Hospital to turnaround is more than twice the goal set.
On average ambulances arriving to the hospital are in excess of 40 minutes before they get back out on the road.
The deputy told Midwest News toady that the situation requires immediate attention
