Enda Kenny has announced his resignation as Taoiseach.
Mr Kenny has presided over a final session in Leinster House, and will go to Aras an Uachtarain this afternoon to hand in his notice, after 6 years as Taoiseach.
Mr Kenny will remain on in a caretaker capacity until tomorrow lunchtime, when the Dáil votes on the appointment Leo Varadkar.
In the Dail this afternoon, Enda Kenny said he was reluctant to make a farewell speech - but that the new Dáil rules gave him no other choice.
Tributes are being paid nationally and locally today to Enda Kenny, who ends his 6-year tenure as Taoiseach but remains on as a TD for Mayo until the next general election.
