A Book of condolence has been opened at Bangor Erris Post Office for the late TK Whitiker.
Mr Whiltiker, died aged 100 earlier this week. He was best known for his groundbreaking work as head of the Department of Finance - which paved the way for Ireland's economic expansion in the 1960's.
In 2001, the public voted him Irishman of the 20th Century.
He was a regular visitor to north Mayo and had a residence in Glencullen, Bangor Erris for many years.
The Book of Condolence is available during opening hours at the post office in Bangor Erris for the next number of days.
