A new report shows Travellers in Galway continue to live in overcrowded, damp and mouldy accomodation, with overflowing sewerage, rat and fly infestations and no facilities for children. The #TravellerHomesNow monitoring report, published by the Galway Traveller Movement, shows the progress made since its original report last year.

It reveals that many traveller sites across Galway city and county are without regular rubbish collections, while the local authorities carried out little or no maintenance on the homes for which the residents paid rent.

The Galway Traveller Movement said the finding present a picture of poverty and social exclusion for hundreds of traveller adults and children and amount to violations of their human rights.
