Irish Rail should consider running a commuter service between Claremorris and Galway, along the Western Rail Corridor.
That's according to Mayo Fianna Fail TD Lisa Chambers, who believes the demand is there for such a service between Mayo and Galway.
This was one of a number of issues relating to rail services discussed at a meeting this week between Iarnrod Eireann and Oireachtas representatives from Co Mayo.
The move towards more ticket machines in stations, taking staff out of stations, the lack of capacity on some trains and the support for people with disabilities were among the issues raised.
