The N59 road has reopened between Mulranny and Ballycroy, following a fatal collision which claimed the life of a man in his 60's.
The single vehicle crash occurred at about 7pm last evening near Mulranny.
The driver - believed to be a local man - was pronounced dead at the scene, and his remains were removed to Mayo University Hospital.
A 12 year old boy who was a passenger in the car sustained minor injuries and was also brought to Mayo University Hospital.
A Garda technical examination has taken place at the scene, and the road reopened shortly after 10 am this morning.
Westport Gardai are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them at 098 - 50237.
