It's expected that Galway East TD Anne Rabbitte will be added to Fianna Fail's all-male European ticket for May's European elections.
The party has selected three male candidates to contest the elections to date: TD Brendan Smith is running in the Midlands / North-West constituency, former minister Barry Andrews in Dublin, while Councillor Malcolm Byrne was selected by delegates to run in Ireland South.
The Irish Independent reports that the Fianna Fail national constituency council will meet this week to decide where to add more candidates, and who.
It is expected that Anne Rabbitte in Galway East will be added to the ticket in the Midlands/ Northwest constituency, and Billy Kelleher will be added in Ireland South.
Deputy Rabbitte would be the only woman running for the party in the European elections.
Meanwhile, Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has said the party will field more than 20pc female candidates in the local elections.
