Storm Gareth is due to hit parts of the country today, bringing strong winds and a chance of coastal flooding.
A status orange wind warning comes into effect for Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal from midday.
Gusts could reach up to 130 kilometres an hour during the worst of the conditions.
Drivers are being advised to take extra care on the roads this morning.
Meanwhile, Mayo County Council is warning parents to pack up their trampolines and wheelie bins as storm Gareth approaches.
The council's safety officer Noel Gibbins says the nets put up around trampolines to keep them safe, could add to the problem, as the net becomes a 'sail' in strong winds.
